About Earth Plus Products LLC It began when young Jared Milarch of northern Michigan wanted to earn money by raising sugar maples for sale in his family's shade tree farm. Eager to put his earnings toward a first car and impatient at the slow growth of saplings, Jared set out to jump start nature by finding a faster way to grow trees. During his research, Jared read an out-of-print book, Secrets of the Soil by Christopher Bird and Peter Tompkins. In it, a chapter devoted to montmorillonite clay gave him the clue for developing what would later become Adzsum™Plus. The clay is mined from a geological deposit in Utah, considered to be an ancient sea bed heaved to the surface through volcanic and glacial action. Exceptionally high in minerals and trace elements, the clay has been used primarily as an additive in commercial livestock feed. Based on his research, Jared decided to try this little known substance on his trees. He began testing on a portion of the maple trees he wanted to hurry along, Jared worked the finely ground, pinkish-gray powdery clay into the soil around 100 of the 500 trees he planted. He also added composted cow manure for good measure. When he went to take a look the following spring, the test trees had grown 3 feet taller; the others had grown the usual 1 foot. He noticed that the treated trees were not only taller, but the diameter of the trunks had increased, and the leaves were a darker, richer green. Excited by his findings, Jared began further research as a freshman at Northwestern Michigan College. In controlled laboratory settings, he ran experiments using the montmorillonite clay, compost and other ingredients. His results showed that when Adzsum™Plus or a close derivative was used, grass seed germinated in 2-5 days, tomato plants set flower and fruit 3 weeks earlier than the control group, and exhibited greater disease resistance. Strawberry plants showed increased vigor and greater yields. Further experimentation and testing resulted in the development of Adzsum™Plus and Jared's company, Earth Plus Products, LLC. With a patent pending, the proprietary mineral supplement is now ready for the market. |
